A DEFECTIVE WINDLASS KAIMAI STILL IN PORT Although she left Western Viaduct for Westport yesterday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock, the Westport Coal Company's chartered steamer Kaimai did not clear the harbour and returned last night to repair a defective windlass, decommissioned after recent reconditioning. the Kaimai adjusted her compasses at the compass dolphin, and was about to leave the harbour when her windlass carried away. A Union Company eugineer went out to the ship, which remained anchored near Devonport until after 10 o'clock. The Kaimai berthed at Central Wharf shortly before 11 o'clock and will sail this evening for Westport.
