AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS VISIT TO THE DOMINION NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS There is a possibility of the tour of New Zealand by the Australian cricket team taking place this soason. All arrangements had been completed, but with the outbreak of war it was thought that tho visit would have to be cancelled. A Press Association cablegram received from Melbourne last night announced that negotiations for the tour are now proceeding between the New Zealand Cricket Council and the Australian Board of Control. The message states: —In response to a cablegram received from tho New Zealand Cricket Council, Dr. Allen Robertson, chairman of the Australian Board of Control, has communicated with foliowmembers in other States to ascertain their views as to whether tho proposed tour of New Zealand by the Australian team should be carried out. If their feeling is that it should ho will make the necessary arrangements for tho tour, either by correspondence or by calling the board members together. Newspaper cricket writers are urging that the tour should take place.

Should tho tour oventuato tho Australian Board of Control is likely to send its best team to the Dominion, under tho captaincy of D. G. Bradman. All enthusiasts would welcome with delight tho opportunity of seeing Bradmain at his best as well as other outstanding Australian players. According to tho itinerary originally arranged tho Australian team was to havo played 14 matches in tho Dominion, including three test games, at Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington. Tho tour was to havo commenced early in Fobruary and the team was to have returned home at tho beginning of April. If tho tour should take place it is likely that the original itinerary will be adhered to.
