f -"'WATER RETICULATION Information that Church Street, Grey Street, Granger Road and a portion of Cockle Bay Road, direct to tho beach, had been dedicated main highways was received from tho chairman of the Main Highways Board at a meeting of the Howick Town Board. The communication was received with favourable comment. _The recommendation forwarded from .the Local Government Loans Board advising- that Cockle Bay should be created a special rating area in conJiection with the proposed water reticulation scheme received very little support at a recent meeting of ratepayers, " who petitioned the Howick Town Board to take a poll of all the ratepayers in the district. The members of the board agreed that this method of financing the project would meet with a negative result, and cause unnecessary expense. It was decided to arrange a further conference to discuss the matter.
