Lyric Harmonists' Choir The Lyric Harmonists' Choir will conclude its 1939 season with a concert in the Town Hall concert chamber on December 7. The programme is as follows: "Tho Warden of the Cinque Ports," a ballad by James Lyon; George Vincent's third "Choral Fantasia" on national airs; Strauss' "Tales of the Vienna "Woods," and a series of old and modern Christmas carols. The conductor will be Claude Laurie. Pianoforte Concert Works from the classical, romantic and modern periods will be presented by Miss Patience Robertson and William Stoupe at a pianoforte concert to be given in the Lewis Eady Hall on Monday. An attractive feature will be the presentation of a Mozart concerto for piano and orchestra, played on two pianos by Miss Robertson and Miss Theo Hal pin. Variety will be added to the programme by Miss Dawn Harding and Robert Simmers, vocalists.

Visiting Artists As adjudicator, conductor, and musical adviser, the National Centennial Music Committee, in collaboration with the National Broadcasting Service, has engaged Mr. Andersen Tyrcr, a musician aud composer of high standing in British musical circles, according to an announcement. Arrangements have also been _ made for the engagement of tho following singers who will'take a prominent part in the festivals ot' the main centres: —soprano, tsobel Baillie, London; tenor, Heddle Nash, London; contralto, Gladys Ripley, London; bass, Oscar Natschcke, New Zealand and London. • Combined Recital

About 200 children from seven schools, trained by Miss Moira Cough lan, will take part in a combined music and operatic dnncing festival to be given in the, Lewis Eady Hall on November 25. The recital is the outcome of a widespread effort started this year among the schools in Auckland to introduce the teaching of music,and dancing as a cultural influence, and is the second of the kind to bo given. The value of the schenie / hns been proven by its success in England and the United States, and there is every indication of its being taken up widely in the Dominion.-Three of Miss Coughlan's own compositions will be played by the children's orchestra.
