GAS CONFERENCE

ELECTION OF OFFICERS TWO FINAL PAPERS READ The 16th annual meeting of the Gas Institute of New Zealand, -which Has been held at Auckland University College, concluded yesterday; During the day the presidential medal was presented to the retiring president, Mr. G. H. E. Collins, and a canteen of cutlery was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Collins as a token of appreciation of their hospitality during the conference.

During the mqrning the two cluding papers, "Gas Versus Electricity and Sales Methods in the. Gas Industry," by Mr. W. R. Brinsley, of Duriedin, and "Space Heating," by Mr. H. Frost, of Auckland, were read. A-visit was paid in the afternoon to the Devonport gas works and delegates were later entertained to afternoon tea by the Auckland Gas Company. The following officers were elected for the coming year:—President, Mr. R. J. Dunckley, Blenheim; vice-presi-dent, Mr. J. Hungerford, Wellington; honorary secretary, Sir.' G. A. MacFarlane, Christchurch; honorary treasurer, Mr. H. Horrocks, Dunedin; council, Mr. A. Morrie Taylor, Timaru, Sir. A. Blackmail, Hawera, Mr. J. Atkinson, Whangarei, Mr. G. H. E. Collins, Auckland, Sir. Mason, Christchurch, Mr. F. Wellington.
