OPENING AT CTOROHANGA • [from OUR OWN correspondent] ■■■ OTOROHANGA, Friday Favoured by ideal weather conditions, a.ijuin the presence of a large number of specta* tors, tne Otorohanga Defence Rifle Club opened its new season on the local range! Mr. G. W. L. Palmer, in the absence of the president, Mr. A. J. McCready, welcomed the visitors, and called upon Mr. K. McDonald to fire the opening shot. Among the visitors were the president, secretary and eight members of the recently T formed .Te Awamutu Defence Rifle Club, and the president, secretary and seven. members of tho Te Kuiti Defence Rifle Club. Mrs. B. Hansen drew the winner of the shoot and won the ladies' trophy. The shoot for the Northern King Country ladies' miniature championship,' which was run by' the club, drew an entry of 2S competitors. After a very keen contest Mrs. L. Peake (Kio Kio) won, with Mrs, H. V. Kyle (Te Kuiti) second, and Mrs. J. Klein (Otorohanga), third. Following were the principal scorers, handicaps being in parentheses:—K. McDonald (300 yds), 35: F. Kyle. J. Onion (2). L. Hooper (2), E. Southall (3), D- "Onion (4), R. Palmer (-1). W. Thomas (4), S. Long (4), G. Watson (7), C. Hoar (S), C. Bryant (10), 33; L. Palmer (scr), F. Thomas (4), H. J.
