POSTAL OFFICIAL'S LAPSE AMOUNT OF £B2 INVOLVED [by telegraph —own correspondent] TAUMARUN'UI, Friday Six charges of theft of sums in registered letters amounting to £B2 were preferred against a postal official, Derek Andrew Thorburn, aged 19, in the Taumarunui Police Court before Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M. It was stated iu evidence that the police found 50 letters in accused's bedroom. The sums stolen included cheques and postal orders. Accused was admitted to probation for a year and ordered to have a prohibition order made out against him.
