CONCERN OF GROWERS DIVERSION THROUGH WAR Fruitgrowers of the Henderson and surrounding districts attended a meeting last night to discuss the marketing of fruit in view of tiie prospect that because of war normal export quantities will be thrown on the local market. Concern was also expressed because the Government bad given no indication of how it intended 16 market fruit generally. The meeting carried the following resolution unanimously: —"That in introducing any scheme for the assistance of the industry the Government he urged to take as a basis the cost of production of pip fruit plus a sufficient sum to give the grower a' reasonable standard of living; and that it is the wish of this meeting that the present selling organisations in Auckland lie retained in the event of Government control of the industry " Another resolution was: "That the Government be urged to give a definite statement of its intentions at the earliest possible moment.''
