At the end of the Great War there was more political freedom and democracy in the world than before. Today it was precisely the future of this freedom which was at stake.

The real issue of the war was whether there would be power behind the kind of world in which Britain and Prance and the democracies of Scandinavia believed, or a more relentless power behind a world in which National Socialism and Communism believed.
