STREET COLLECTION
PATRIOTIC FUND FLAG DAY ON NOVEMBER 24 A decision to hold a street collection in Auckland on Friday, November 24, has been 'made by the executive and finance sub-committee of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee. The collection will take the form of a flag day, each donor being given a miniature Union Jack. . The committee made its decision following a recommendation from a conference of various organisations which was held in the Town Hall concert chamber on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mr. J. A. C. Allnm, deputychairman of the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee. November 24 had been allotted for a collection for the Royal Life-Saving Society and the Surf LifeSaving Society, but on behalf of these organisations Dr. T. H. Pettit offered to forgo the day in favour of the Patriotic Committee. Details of the organisation of the collection will be in the hands of the St. John Ambulance Association. Various city organisations have intimated their willingness to support and assist this effort. Tn appealing to residents to provide billets for soldiers during week-ends. Mr. Allnm has asked that those willing to do so should communicate with the secretary of the Patriotic Committee, Mr. C. R. Gribble, setting out the number they can accommodate.
