OPENING GAMES SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY The Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association will commence its first series of games in the new season next Saturday. ASSOCIATION The Onehunga Cricket Association will open its season at Waikaraka Park at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday with a series of preliminary matches before the commencement, of its championship, competition for tho D.C.L. Shield the following Saturday. It was reported at a meeting of tho management committee that the Borough Council had thoroughly harrowed, rolled and mown the whole park area and topdressed the 15 wickets, thereby ensuring first-class playing surfaces. Tho furnishing of tho grandstand is also proceeding satisfactorily and there is now amplo accommodation by way of teams' dressing rooms, luncheon room, electric light and heating points, together with other conveniences for sportsmen. It was also reported that a valnablo silver' cup had been presented for competition by Mr. W. L. Bradshaw. It has been allocated to a champion of champions match toward the closo of the season. Moran, A. Kenny. N. Connolly, M. Coakley, club captain, Mr. M. Coakley. Several prominent players will bo taking part in the competitions, including a f.nnicr representative of North Auckland and Hawke's Bay. Four teams have entered in the Thames Cricket Association's competitions this season, three of last year's teams —Tliprh School Old Boys and Tararu. Karaki has decided not to enter a team and the fourth side will bo tho new St. Francis team.
