SCOTTISH PAGEANT
AN HISTORICAL SURVEY FAMOUS WOMEN DEPICTED FINE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION Women of Scotland famous in fact song or story were brought to life in a striking pageant presented by 50 per-. formers in the Y.W.C.A. assembly ha.lllast night. Organised for patriotic purposes under the auspices of the Y.W.C.A. Scottish Women's Club, the pageant was written and produced by Mrs. Helen Griffiths and performed before .a packed audience. „ Much attention to detail as well as to colourful effect war; given in the costumes worn by each performer, and the result was a living and moving ' history of famous Scottish women cl£ picted with dignity and beauty. Women notable for their deeds of , valour, personalities in literature music and the stage, Royal heroines' Christian martyrs, and members of famous aristocratic Scottish families were all represented, each performer ' as she appeared on the stage, speaking a few words explaining her origin or claim to fame. The words were writ-' ten by Mrs. Griffiths, who also announced each personality prior to her appearance. The club president, Mrs. A. M. Sulll-' van, welcomed the guests, after which a brief programme of Scottish . -items' was presented before the pageant commenced. Songs were sung by Mrs. A. Rattray and Mr. W. music was rendered by Mr. Len Amor and Highland dances were given by Mr. William Saul. The accompanist for the items and for the pageant was Aficq ,T.
