INSTITUTE AFFAIRS
1 Glen field. —A successful bring-and-buy stall was held at the monthly 1 meeting in aid of a Christmas tree for the children. Mrs. Edmonds presided, and Colonel E. R. Sawer gave a talk on Zulus. Remits were explained by Mrs. Sawer. Mrs. Shanlev was welcomed home from a holiday abroad. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Law, Mrs. Lepard and Mrs. Martin. Waimauku.—Mrs. Foster presided at the monthly meeting. A talk on ways in which women could help with war work was given by Mrs. Harris, of Kumeu, arid the possibility of forming a branch of the Red Cross Society in the district was discussed. A charade was acted by Miss Nixon, Miss Thorstensen, Miss Goatby and Miss Annett. The hostesses were Mrs. Armstrong. Mrs. Hutchings and Mrs. Harrc. Ardmore. The president, Mrs. Heron, presided at the monthly meeting. Certificates were presented to the members who had passed their first-aid examinations. The results of the competitions were: —Written competition: Miss E. St. Paul, I; Miss P. Finch, 2. Folwers: Mrs. Heron, 1; Miss E. St. Paul, 2. Tho hostesses were Mrs. Finch and Miss Finch.
