LADIES' COMMITTEE
LEAGUE FOOTBALL SUPPORT PLANS TO RAISE FUNDS A meeting of ladies was held in the Rugby Football League social hall at Huntly oil Tuesday evening, when the secretary to the board of management, South Auckland Rugby Football League, Mr. W. C. Davies, gave a brief outline of the board's policy and what they were striving for. Mr. Davies explained that the board was not a private concern operating for profit nor was any individual receiving anv pecuniarv gain from the undertaking. It was simply a sporting organisation that had set out to provide better facilities in the district than hitherto had existed. Their record io date, lie continued, was one of which they were justly proud, as within a space of three years they had made two playing areas, erected a grandstand.. dressing room., social hall and card room, and also had installed hot and cold showers. Their success was due to the combined efforts of everyone in the district. If their finances allowed, there was still much to be done, lie said in conclusion. • Subsequently the ladies present decided to form' a social committee, their first effort to he to organise a function for raising funds to • complete an ambulance room before the next season. A dance and euchre tournament is planned and Mr. George Beadle, _ a local player and one of the Kiwis, whose tour of England was cut short through the outbreak of war, is to be welcomed home. The personnel of the committee appointed was as follows: —President, Miss L. Harmswortb; secretary and treasurer. Mrs. S. Farrar: committee, Mrs. W. C. Davies, Mrs. R. Trautvettor, Mrs. E. Sutherland. Mrs. H. Rayner, Mrs. Pearson, Mrs. O'Callaglian, Mrs. T. Skelton, and Miss E. Partridge.
