FIRE PREVENTION
ENGINES FOR AERODROMES TESTS AT RONGOTAI [liT telegraph—OWN correspondent] "WELLINGTON, Wednesday Two new firo engines with full equipment which' tore up and down ami across the Bongotai landing field, taking rough and smooth at np to 50 miles an hour, were under severe test. They are part of an order of 15 for the Royal New Zealand Air Force to lie distributed among tlie main training bases in both islands. The engines are in three models, heavy, medium and light, but the equipment on all is much the same. A point of particular interest is that the engines, which are of highlyspecialised design and have to stand up to strains and handling more severe than a standard road engine, arc, with the exception of the asbestos protective clothing and certain particular and smaller items, .equipped with New Zealand-made pumps, extinguishers, foam plant, reels and nozzles. A Wellington factory started work on bare motors and chasses. The inspecting officers of the Air Force and the superintendent of Wellington Firo Brigades, who supervised the tests, expressed satisfaction with tlio equipment and performance.
