THREAT OF STRIKE
NORTH WALES COALFIELD CONFERENCE , BREAKS DOWN (Received October 2-1, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 23 A general strike on tlie Nortji Wales coal field is probable next Saturday, when the workers' notices expire, as the result of a conference at Wrexham to-night breaking down in a complete deadlock. The mon sook an adjustment of grievances and higher wages. The owners last month made an offer which, the men found unacceptable and they are not prepared to make further concessions.
