PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland provincial amateur snooker championship for the Billiards, Limited, cup, was continued last evening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited's showrooms, when the semi-finals were decided. L. F. W. TToldsworth defeated ,T. Proctor by two games to one, tho scores being 70—20, 30—52, 03—39, and It. Carrick defeated R. Whit ford, 00 —29. 71—58. Holdsworth, the title-holder, was hard pressed to secure a win against Proctor. Holdsworth won rather decisively in the first, game, and made good use of his opportunities. In lb:' second game, Proctor improved, and was Ihe more accurate, lie held a slight lead throughout and in spite of a good effort by Holdsworth, won by a margin of 22 poinls. The deciding game was closely, contested throughout, Holdsworth having slightly the best of the play. Proctor made a great effort to clinch the game when he required both the pink and black to win. However, he misjudged a fairly difficult pink and left this in an easy position for Holdsworth to secure and win by 21 points. It. Carrick, in his first game against Whitlord, displayed his usual accuracy, and gavo a brilliant exhibition of potting and won this game comfortably. Whit ford's play improved in the second game, and he soon gained a lead in the early stages by 27 points. Carrick gained ground by taking the pink and black soon alter A further run of two reds and the black and brown evened up the scores. Carrick's positional pla.t being excellent. Whitford just missed a. difficult shot on the pink when he required both the pink and black to win. Carrirk swerved around the black which snookered tho pink to pot this and win an exciting contest by 13 points.

The final commences to-night at 7.45 between L. F. W. Holdsworth (holder), and It, Carrick.
