POHUTU GEYSER PLAYS FIVE SPECTACULAR SHOT? LIKELY INFLUENCE OF WAIKITE [by telegraph—own correspondent] ROTOETJA, Tuesday Five excellent displays by the famous Pohutu Geyser in the Whakareirargwa thermal area provided an unfejpected. and "interesting attraction "for tisiiort to the thermal region this momn£ % . Three, more displays were witnessed during' the morning, but this afternoon the geyser again became quiescent, although the unusual height of -the water this evening in the boiling cauldron alongside indicated a renewal of activity. . Apart from one display, which was given last Wednesday, the Pohutu Geyser, whicfi formerly was the'•chief attraction at the Rotorua thermal area, had not played for about two years. About two months ago it. was noticed that the W aikite Geyser also becoming less active and since that time it has stopped playing altogether. _ - As it is rarely that Waikite plays while Pohutu is also active, this also is a further indication of the possi-. bility of the f renewed activity Pohutu.
