COLLISION IN AIR

AEROPLANES' WINGS TOUCH LANDING WITHOUT MISHAP [BY TELEGRAPH' PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday The wing tips of two Vickers Vildebeeste aeroplanes from Wigram aerodrome were slightly damaged when the machines touched while flying in clou'ds above Hiccarton to-day. The machines were engaged in formation flying when they touched. The pilots quickly regained their equilibrium and, although an aileron on one machine was damaged, both aeroplanes were landed without mishap. The machines will in all probability be back in the air to-morrow. The officer commanding at Wigram, Wing-Commander Hodgson, said thatsimilar mishaps, although uncommon, had occurred before, and then also the damage was _ slight and the machines were successfully landed.
