STREET COLLECTIONS

NO MORE GRANTS THIS YEAR A decision not to grant any further applications for street collections during the current year was made by the City Council last night. It was decided to advise applicants that the matter would again be considered in February of next year. The finance committee reported having received a deputation from the Red Cross Society, but stated that the council had an arrangement with the Suburban Local Bodies' Association to consult it before granting any street days. The association had already indicated that it was not prepared to extend the number of daya already , allocated, for this .year.
