Little Theatre Society

PRODUCTION DIFFICULTIES After six weeks' of rehearsals, the Little Theatre Society has not yet overconic all difficulties in connection with the staging of its first production since coming out of recess —T. S. Eliot's "Murder in the Cathedral." Since the piece was written for, and originally played in, Canterbury Cathedral, the committee has been exercised in finding a theatre or hall that will do the play justice. Fourteen possible halls have been inspected so far but none has given complete satisfaction. To create the impression of a cathedral, emphasis on vertical rather than on horizontal lines is needed, and it is precisely in this direction that the cinema proscenium is unsuitable. Another specification demanded by the production is a centro aisle, as part of the play is developed in this locale. Apart from this aspect there is the suggestion that a navo might help in creating the right atmosphere for this unusual play.
