ANDREW'S HALL August 23-20. Auckland Repertory Theatre's "Moon in Iho Yellow River." September 15, 10, 18-21 .—Grafton Shakespearo's "The Flashing Stream." Grafton Shakespeare The next production by the Grafton Shakespeare and Dramatic Club is to be Charles Morgan's "The Flashing Stream," which will bo staged, in September. The play had a long run in' London, where it made a very favourable impression on the critics. Casting for tlio production is still going on, and so far only one role, that of the male lead, can be announced. The part will be taken by Francis Page. Organ Recital , / A recital will bo given at the Holy Sepulchre Church, Khyber Pass Road, on Sunday, August 27, by Mr. Stanley Jackson, who will be heard in organ solos and Mendelssohn's second concerto for piano and orchestra, in which he will play the piano part and will bo assisted by Miss Freda Lewins at the organ. Mr. Jrfckson's other numbers will be J. S. Bach's Fantasia and Fugue in G minor and "Cathedrales," _ by Viernc. Vocal numbers will be given by the Rev. Kenneth Small. Auckland Repertory Theatre Denis Johnston's "Moon in the Yellow River," the Auckland Repertory Theatre's next production, which will open in St. Andrew's Hall next Wednesday, created something of p sensation at its opening in London. First presented at the Abbey Theatre. Dublin, it was greeted with instantaneous praise from the critics when brought to the West End. The Bookman called it "tremendous" and declared it an Irish "Cherry Orchard." The Spectator said it was not only "The best modern play on the London stage in years, but one of the finest plays in the English language." "The author is one of the younger school of Irish dramatists and lie has achieved one of the finest studies of the Trish character yet written. The season is one of four nights.
