JUBILEE celebrations; GATHERINGS • NEXT MONTH The foundation of the Gladstone School, in 1887 will be'recalled From September 14 to September 17, wfien jubilee celebrations " are to be held. Known for about 25 years as the Point Chevalier School, its name was changed to Gladstone when a new school trai opened at Point Chevalier in about 1915. *; " About 500 pupils at present attend the school, the headmaster being Mr. C. E. Scott. A former headmaster wai Mr. D. Maginnes, the present head' master of the Bayfield-School. The fol« lowing are members of the executive which is arranging the jubilee programme: —Chairman, Mr. W. D. M. Glaister; .deputy-chairman. Mr. D'Arcj Thomas; registrar, Mr. W. Hickson; treasurer, Mr. W. Howe; organiser and secretary, Mr. A. T. Dow; assistantsecretary, Miss Ross; chairmen of subcommittees, Messrs. A. Gallaghef (entertainment), W. Brown (finance), C. E. Scott (historical) and L. J. Scott (publicity). - A reunion of old pupils is to tak< place on the evening of Thursday, September 14-, in the specially" illuminated school grounds, while on the following afternoon displays will be presented.'!)* the present scholars. On the Saturday afternoon there is to be another reunion and roll call, and a banquet and social gathering is to follow in the evening. The programme will be concluded with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 17. .
