CIGARETTES DESTROYED
ANOTHER 750,000 UNWANTED DUNEDIN CONSIGNMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday Nearly 750,000 cigarettes which did not comply with the import regulations were burned on tho premises of a Dunedin firm last week under the supervision of the Customs Department. Tho cigarettes had been ordered prior to the restrictions and after their arrival it was found there was no ready salo for them, and so tho importers decided that destruction would bo tho best step in the circumstances. 1 Together with tho Christchurch blaze, this makes well over 3,000,000 cigarettes which have been destroyed in Now Zealand recently.
