PETROL EXPLOSION

FISHING LAUNCH ON FIRE FUEL THROWN OVERBOARD OWNER SUFFERS MINOR BURNS. [bv telegraph—owx correspondent] THAMES, Tuesday A. petrol explosion occurred aboard the launch Una at 4.30 a.in. to-day, five minutes after it bad left the Shortland Wharf. The owner, Mr. L. Mitchell, suffered minor burns to the face and hands. Flames spread over part of tbe launch after the explosion, and it took half an hour's fighting with wet sacks before they were extinguished. Another launch went to the assistance of the Una, which was left lying in the mangroves off Shelly Beach. The crew returned to the wharf in a dinghy. Nets and ropes, and three drums of petrol Avere saved. Two other drums were thrown overboard in order to avoid further serious damage.
