MATERNITY HOME CASES ASHBURTON OVERCROWDING [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] ASHBURTON", Monday After a., long discussion in committee on overcrowding at tho Malvern Maternity Home tho Ashburton Hospital Board resolved that a means test bo initiated as from the next meeting if it is found that in tho next month tho position regarding accommodation is not relieved. Dr. Wells, chairman of tho committee that reported on the matter, said that following tho introduction of social security benefits prospective patients had transferred from private nursing homes to Malvern. An alternative to tho means test would be provision for another 50 or 60 patients.
