NEW ZEALAND I'ARTY BRITAIN AND CONTINENT FRENCH DEFENCES IMPRESS [from our own correspondent] LONDON, July 21 At the conclusion of a pleasant round of Britain members of Mr. Ritchie's New Zealand touring party went to the Continent. At Ypres a visit was paid to the Menin Gate. From there the tourists Went to Brussels and the Field of Waterloo. Luxemburg and Strasbourg came next. En route the travellers * saw something of the Maginofc Line, and were greatly impressed with the strength of tho French defences. In Switzerland, Zurich was the first town to be visited, and most of the party saw the exhibition there. Lucern6 and Interlaken followed, all the travellers being impressed by tho magnificence of the mountain scenery. A most wonderful view was obtained from Jnhgfrau. Tho journey to Montreux was via the. Bernese Oberland route. This afforded a fine opportunity to see something of the intensive cultivation of the land in Switzerland. After a delightful trip along the side of' Lake Geneva, tho home of the League of Nations,-Was reached. From Geneva "the party went to Avalon and then to Paris, traversing the, route which Napoleon used on his way to Elba. A break was inado at Amiens. - The party disbanded on July 7. On tho previous evening they had met in the lounge of the Imperial Hotel, Russell Square, and presented Mr. ltitchie .with a ailver inkstand.
