DISEASE PROBLEM
NOTIFICATION URGED Tho need for morn- rigorous steps to bo taken in controlling the incidence of social diseases, was emphasised by speakers at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board last night, when the work of tho special clinic at tho institution was under consideration. Several members considered these diseases should be notifiable, and the chairman, Mr. Allan ,T. Moody, said hu would convey these views to .the Minister of Health, tho Hon. P. Fraser. The medical superintendent, Dr. J. W. Craven, said tho incidence of the disease in Auckland was not exceptionally high. The question of notification had exercised the minds of authorities in tho past, and the fenr hncl been , expressed that a scheme of compulsory notification would have tho effect of [ driving the disease underground..
