PROFESSORIAL BOARD
NEW CHAIRMAN CHOSEN PROFESSOR J. RUTHERFORD ELECTION RESULT ANNOUNCED The new chairman of the Professorial Board of Auckland University College is Professor James Rutherford, professor of history. The election was held on Friday, and the result was announced at a meeting of the board yesterday.
There were two candidates for the office, the unsuccessful member being Professor Maxwell Walker, professor of modern languages. The election proved a very close one. Professor Rutherford has not previously held the position, from which Professor W. A. Sewell, professor of English, has just retired.
