WATER BOARD PROPOSAL PETITION ABOUT BUS FARES A decision to approach the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association with a view to the formation of a water board among suburban authorities was reached at a meeting of tho New Lynn Borough Council last night. A petition signed by ;SSB residents was received protesting against the proposed increase in bus fares and the recent abolition of apprentices' tickets. The council resolved that if the petition was redrafted in suitable form it would place it before the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority. The town clerk, Mr. L. Butters, reported that the increased petrol tax would cost the borough an additional £2lO b.v March 31 next. A, plan - was submitted by the codicil's town-planning adviser,-Mr. E. V. Blake, for the re-subdivision of land off Astiev Avenue to provide an access road to the shopping district, building sites, a small playground reserve and an area to be acquired by the Titirangi Golf Club. It was reported that the area was not suitable to the club, and Mr. Blake would confer with it regarding a change in the plan. It was decided to give a three months' trial to holding monthly instead of fortnightly meetings.
