SPBINT BY VALSPEAR PROMISE OF DICK TURPIN CONDITIONS NOW FAVOURABLE The No. 2 grass track, with the poles out sft., provided improved going for galloping at Ellerslie on Saturday. Most of tho horses who sprinted wore not asked to do their best, but smart efforts went to the credit of Valspear, Dick Turpin, Valdone and Water Fox. On the grass, Dick Turpin (Hearn), Fleetwind (Tonks) and Waitarma (Gilchrist) finished in close order at tho end of half a mile in 525, which was not bettered during tho morning. After tailing the others into tho straight, Dick Turpin came home very strongly and he impressed for a novice. Elise (Coon) was not troubled to run three furlongs in 41s. Palmint (Hearn) was running on strongly at the conclusion of half a mile in 535. He is muscling up well, in view of his racing at.Ellerslie this month.

After running the first threo in 39 3-os, Valspear (Coon) got to the end of six furlongs in 1.19 3-5. It was a sound gallop and Valspear will not be lacking condition when required to race next. Aero Queen (Bevan) and Trilliarch (Kerr) were on terms and going comfortably at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5, the last halfmile taking 54 4-ss. Bisquit (Wiggins) was under restraint while covering a round in 1.5G 2-5, the last half-mile in 54 4-ss. Sumriiary (Dulieu) was going nicely in front of Beverley (Hearn) at the finish of half a mile in 54 2-ss, the last three fvirlongs in 40 l-ss. Summary continues to work pleasingly. Bright Idea (Buchanan) ran half a mile easily in 56 1-os. Biddy Girl (Wiggins) showed speed to beat Chief Scout (Markwick) over,the same ground in 53 2-ss. King Musk (Bernie) had slightly the better of High Quality (Coon) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.22, the last half-mile being run in 54 4-ss.

The stable-mates, Francis Drake (Cameron) and Pern (Walker) were not ridden out to get to the end of half a mile in 53 2-os. Tupeotu (Fergus) was travelling easily alongside Adsum (Baker) over the last half-nule of their work in 57 2-os.
