SOUTH TOUR PROPOSED AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVES MATCH ON SATURDAY NEXT Tho possibility of an Auckland representative team travelling by air to the South Island was discussed at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, when a request was read from the West Coast League asking for two matches during this month. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said v the expense of sending a team to play in the South Island waß very costly, but, while such a trip would result in a loss, he was of the opinion that something should be' done for the Auckland players as well as for the South Island leagues. It was intended to plav. two games at the week-end, said Mr. Campbell. Tho treasurer, Mr. J. Ivnowling, suggested that, in view of the length of tho journey by train, tlfp cost of using tho air servico might prove tho better proposition in tho interests of the team. Mr. I. Culpan also expressed the opinion that the cost of travelling by air should be investigated. Mr. Campbell said that, in view of no guarantees as to the gate, travel by air would be a costly proposition. Mr. F. T. McAncny inquired about the possibility of playing a game in Christchurch. It was eventually decided to defer final consideration until the chairman had discussed the prospects of gates with the leagues concerned. It was agreed to confirm the decision of tho emergency committee to accept a challenge from the . South Auckland representatives to play a match against Auckland at Carlaw Park on Saturday. Mr. Campbell said the meeting was called iD response to a telephone communication, and all arrangements had been satisfactorily made with tho Waikato players. A strong team will arrive early on Saturday morning.

Mr. S. Prentice was appointed manager and coach of tho Auckland team. Mr. W. C. Davies will" be in charge of the South Auckland team, which will be entertained after the match.

A complaint was received from the junior control board with reference to the unsatisfactory condition of one of the playing grounds at Victoria Park. It was decided to refer the complaint to the Parks Committee of the Auckland City Council. Congratulations were extended to the Mount Albert team on winning the senior grade championship. An application for admittance to the Roope Rooster competition was received frojn the Huntly Club, and after somo discussion it was resolved that, owing to the expressed wishes of several local clubs to enter teams, the application could not bo granted. It was decided to make a donation of two guineas toward the cost of trophies for the annual Auckland amateur championship cycle road race. \ A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of Mr. R. Clarke, a former representative player, who died recently. G. R. Kerr was transferred from North Shore to Papakura and R. Broughton was registered as a playing member of »the City Club.
