AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION GRANT MADE TO GYMNASIUMS A report drawn up by tho sub-committee responsible for tho" local suburban tournaments revealed Vthe fact tho committee meeting, of tlio 'Auckland(Boxing Association last evening, that, equipment was needed by all gymnasiums. It was decided to allocate £SO for gear and equipment. It was decided to make available tho asso-' ciation's officials for the Training College championships to bo held in tho Auckland gymnasium to-night. A circular from the New Zealand Council advised that tho New Zealand amateur cham-

pionships for 1930 would be held at Invercargill on September 12, 13 and 14, and that entries would close on September 4. Remits for tho conference iof delegates should bo lodged by August 18. Mr. A. B. Joplin was nominated a referee and Mr. J. Sloan a judge for the New Zealand championship tourney. Tho president, Mr. N. McLean, was appointed the asssociation's delegate to the conferenco of delegates, and Mr,. "H. Brien was appointed manager of the team. It was decided to defer tho appointment of an official trainer to accompany tho team until after August 14. In view of the fact that the New Zealand championships will bo held in Auckland during Centennial year, tho committee decided to arrange for the honorary secretary, Mr. IT. Watts, to accompany tho team to facilitate the organisation. It was decided to post a new rulo book to each' member of the association immediately. v .. . Tho closing dato for entries for the Auckland championships is August 21. It was decided to issue uniform blazers to winners of tho championships, and also to hold a paper-weight division should tho numbur of acceptors bo. eight or more.
