THE CLERICAL STAFFS
Sir, —After listening-in to the Parliamentary debate for the last five weeks or so, I have been waiting to hear some member of Parliament voice a plea for the clerical portion of the community, but not one thing has been said on their behalf. We hear a lot said for the farmers, importers, etc., every time a member gets up to speak. What about that large body comprising insurance, banks, public service and clerical divisions? They have no chance of passing on the extra cost of living. The great majority of the clerks have had no increase in salaries to meet the high cost of living brought about by the reckless extravagance of the Socialistic Labour Government, and all they have to thank them for is the 40-hour week, which in no way fills the larder.
