FREE MILK FOR SCHOOLS
Sir, —At present most schools in the Auckland district are being supplied with free milk delivered usually in halfpint bottles. This 'milk ration was originally intended for those children who are unable to get proper nourishment at home. Those children are round in state schools, and not expensive colleges or boarding schools. Why, then, is milk delivered to any other school than one under Government control?
Surely parents who can afford to send their children to expensive schools can afford to give them all the nourishment they require. It is a crime that this wastage of milk should be allowed to continue so long as there are people who are in genuine need of milk.
P. A. Restall,
