VITAL STATISTICS
AN ALL ROUND DECREASE AUCKLAND'S JULY RETURNS A marked falling off in the number of births, deaths and marriages is a feature of the statistics for July in Auckland, compared with the figures for the same month last year. The only section to show little variation was the number of marriages- by the registrar, which was one less than for July, 1938. The largest decrease was in the number of deaths, which fell by 29,.the monthly total being 194, and the year's figure to date 3274. Marriage notices were 2o lower at 181 for the month, with a seven months' total, of 1774. Births fell by 23, the number being 216. but the total to date is higher at 1776. Marriages by the registrar, included in the marriage notices, were 47 in number. The total for the year so far is 371, which is less than the 386 recorded for the same period in 1938.
