In acknowledging tho expressions of confidence, , Mr. Campbell said that from all eourcos ho had received messages of sympathy, and, much as ho would have liked to go to England, his decision to withdraw was mado in his own interests as well as those of the team. Some discussion arose as tho result of n request from tho Central Club, winner of the Wellington League championship, for a match at an early date against the champion Auckland club. Mr. Campbell said tho request had much to commend it and there was every reason to anticipate strong opposition from tho Central team. The question, however, was whether tho game could bo played on Saturday week, should Mount Albert win next Saturday.
