NEAV ZEALAND TEAM DEPARTURE OFAUCKLANDERS ARRANGEMENTS FOR FAREWELL Several further proposals and arrangements generally to give tha Auckland players in the New Zealand team a fitting farewell at Car law Park on Saturday afternoon were finalised at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugbv League. Mr. F. T. McAncny presided in the absence of tlio chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell. Mr. McAncny said the Union Jack will bo unfurled, nnd a band will play the National Anthem. This ceremony will bo followed by a parade of players and officials. A ceremony of dedication of tho New Zealand flag will be carried out by a Maori chief, and a haka will bo given by a Maori party, also a farewell souk, in which lie suggested patrons should join. The function is to take placo between tho curtain-raiser and the principal fixturo. A request from the Tarunaki League for a representative Auckland teum to visit TaranaUi during the season. August being preferred, was deferred meanwhile. It was decided, however, to seek the assistance of tho leading clubs, with the idea of encouraging the visit lo Taranaki. The Auckland Rugby Union wrote regarding (he position of defaulting unfinancial players, and pointing out that the matter was causing some concern. Mr. McAncny said it was proposed to hold a conference between football organisations, and it was decided to be represented by Messrs. I. Culpan and McAncny. llapeta, the North Shoro forward who was ordered off last Saturday, was suspended for one playing Saturday. The New Zealand Rugby League wroto expressing appreciation for tho splendid services rendered by Messrs. J. Knowling and I. Culpan during the trial matches ula.vcd at C'arlaw l'nrk. It was announced that a gold medal, donated by Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, for the most sportsmanlike conduct in senior foothall, was won by J. Uemi. of the Manukau Club. The presentation will be made at Carlaw Park on Saturday.
The Auckland Centennial Council advised that provision had been made for League football to be included in Hie programme of Saturday. August 21. 1010. It was. decided lo agree to the proposal.
