iYOUTH AND AGRICULTURE The increased interest being taken in agriculture by the 3*oll tli of New Zealand and the expansion of the colony's markets were the subject of much satisfaction 51) years ago. The following appeared in the New Zealand Hkuat.d of July 18, 1889: "Our youth are now betaking themselves to the plough and the pruning hook and a great spur has been given to this agricultural energy and other industrial activity by the new call from many quarters for our exports, the increase of outside markets for the commodities we are able to supply. As we are beginning to show our own senso of the advantages within our reach, the appreciation and confidence cannot but have their effect 011 beholders far away. Now Zealand may easily be made a site for the best class pf immigrant."
