VISIT TO ENGLAND
DUKE 01? WINDSOR PROBABLY IN OCTOBER LONDON PAPER'S REPORT [FROM OUR OWN COKHESPONnF.NT] LONDON, June 20 The Duke nncl Duchess of Windsor have decided to pny a visit to England, nays the Evening Standard. They will arrive in October. There is no .question of their obtaining permission. As British citizens, the Duke and Duchess are free to come andigo as thc.v please. The Duke for some time past has resolved not to insist upon the granting of the title of 11 oval Highness to the Duchess. It is possible that they will visit the United States next year. The Duke's plan to come to England is not based on ft hasty and recent decision. Like most Englishmen, he has always regarded the Continent as a place to visit rather than as a place to settle in. Hut although the Duke nnd Duchess intend eventually to make their home in England—as Sir John Simon at the time of the Abdication ' clearly stated that they were entitled to do—their initial visit is not likely to last more tlian a week or so. The Duke and Duchess will probably make one or two further visits before settling down finally, which may be toward the spring. Ihey realise that the question of their return is both complex and difficult, and they have no desire to do anything that might cause embarrassment to their relations or to themselves. The Duke's plan to return to England does not imply that he is unhappy himself. He is an addict to golf as ever, and he has found —like so many other golfers—that, short of living on a golf course, Paris is the ideal centre for .the game. There is no other city where so many excellent golf courses can be reached in a quarter of an hour.
