ILLEGAL SHOOTING PENALTY [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday A successful yenr was reported nt the annual meeting of the Northland Acclimatisation Societies Federation, held in Whangarei, when the following officers wero elected: —Chairman, Mr. S. P.' Day (Hobson); viee-ehairman, Mangonui appointee; secretary, Mr. 0. Erieson (Hobson). . The position regarding the confiscation of the firearms of persons convicted of illegal shooting of game was discussed at length, and it was decided that the Minister of Internal Affairs be asked to enforce the section of the Act providing for the forfeiture of firei arms in all such cases.
