RATINGS' COMPLAINTS
AUSTRALIAN NAVY WEEK-END MEETINGS .. ■ (Received July 16, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 10 Rumours arc rife of discontent 'among ratings in the Australian Navy. The' Sunday Sun reports that secret meetings of the crews of all the Naval vessels now at Sydney are to be held at the week-end to consider the undertaking given recently by the Minister of , Defence, Mr. G. A. Street, to investigate the rumours. Causes for complaint are said to- be salaries in general, but particularly married men's allowances, also the disbaridment of the men's Welfare Committees. Ratings were recently paraded and addressed" by senior officers. Mr. Street, interviewed at Perth, said he had every confidence in the loyalty of the Fleet and in all the members of jbhe , squadron. *
