ANNUAL BALL
ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS FUNCTION AT UNIVERSITY UNUSUAL DECORATIONS Always to be relied upon to produce effective and unusual decorations, tho architecture students at the Auckland University College chose a Manhattan skyline for the decorative scheme at their annual dance, which took place on Saturday night. Tho dance was held in the junoir studio, while the senior studio was used as a lounge. Steel grey sky-scrapers with lighted windows were silhouetted ' against a background of midnight blue in the frieze pattern which encircled the dance room. Sky-scrapers were used again iu a striking back-drop, which was designed to symbolise modern architecture. The lounge was dimly lighted and arranged with bamboo and palms into cubicles. A spot light illuminated ail iridescent semi-circle on one wall, the central feature of the decorative scheme. Downstairs, in the foyer, an avenue of palms had been arranged to guide the guests toward tho studio. Among those present were: —Mi's. 0. ft. Knight and Mrs. A. M. Chisholm (chaperoncs), Mrs. It. H.
