GOLF CONTESTS

MOST COUBSES HEAVY play during week-end SUCCESS OF I. WILSON GROVE WINS AT MAUNGAKIEKIE Competitions were held by the various local golf clubs on Saturday. The majority of the courses were heavy, but the weather was fairly fine. The' final of the No. 2 match-play tourney was decided at Middlemorc and lan Wilson defeated F. G. Lintott at the ,16th hole. In the scratch medal event, G. AV. S. Williams was successful with a score of 75, while the net medal was won by D. L. M. Martin. The third and final round of the Schnauer Memorial Cup was played at Maungakiekie, 0. B. Grove winning with a total of 1.32. In the qualifying round fqr the Blcdisloe Cup, W. G. Clavis and Grovo led the field, Clavis winning the medal handicap which was played in conjunction. The well-known New Zealand sculling champion, 11. B. Smith, was successful in the 36-liole Stablcford for the Bridgens Cup at Akarana. The handicap match-play competition for the Edwards trophy was continued and there were a number of interesting matches in the second round. The Jubilee Cup qualifying round was commenced at North Shore, where H. E. Goodwin beaded the list with a 69 net/J. A. Penman, who had the best gross score of the day, and L. J. Minogue were next. The second round of the" Howey Walker Cup was decided at Glendowie, and H. J. Aitken was the winner of the concurrent bogey handicap. Medal competitions were held at Pupuke and Orakei, G. M. Truscott and N. P. Coleman being the winners at the former while A. Campbell and W. Brooks were successful at the latter club. The President's Cup event of the Orakei Club was finalised and resulted in a win for H. Chappell, who defeated J. Eremstrom. . ORAKEI MEDAL ROUND PRESIDENT'S CUP TO H. PUPUKE CLUB " VARIOUS MATCHES PLAYED The fifth monthly medal and first round for tho Hawes Cup, three rounds eclectic, was played in conjunction by members of the'Pupuke Golf Club, the medal round being in two divisions. The senior division was won by G; M. Truscott, with a card of 7S, 5)—00, the next best being:—H. E. Nicholas, 70, J. Mollard, 82, 11—71; C. Jaggs, S3, 12—71.; :■ The second division was won by N. P. PUPUKE LADIES' CLUB A sealed hole medal, played by members of the Pupuke Ladies' Golf Club, resulted in a win for Miss A. Railey, with a net card of so. The C grade sealed hole medal was won by Miss y. Tyer, with a score of 100 net.
