Morrinsville.—-The Morrinsville senior representatives, holders of the Peace Memorial C'np, defeated i'aeroa by points to :$ in the first challenge match for the trophy of tiio season, played before about "-'OOO spectators at the Morrinsville Recreation Ground, in fine weather. The ground was dry aud in good order for open football. Both teams made play fast and interesting throughout and the spectators, who included a large contingent from Paeroa, showed their appreciation by continuous barracking. Paeroa did not make sufficient use of the advantage of sun and wind in the first spell, and the score was .'{-all when the teams changed round. Morrinsville did most of the attacking in the second spell, although several short breakaways by Paeroa almost ended in tries. Clot worthy kicked a penalty goal for Paeroa after about '2O minutes' play. Morrinsville replied with a try by Barker, on the left wing. From a passing movement in which the Morrinsville backs handled. T. Clarkin, on the right wing, scored two tries and Barker also scored. Mr. Wntkins, of Hamilton, was referee. Te Puke. —A junior representative fixture was played at Jubilee Park, Te Puke, between Te Puke and Rotorua. The game was close and interesting, with Itotoriia showing occasional flashes of brilliance. Rotorua won by 11 points to !). For Te Puke, Jordan, at - fullback, played well, while llaaapia, the halfback, was outstanding. In the forwards Maxwell stood out as the best forward on the ground. In the.Rotorua team Kinsi and Ged.ve wero the best backs, while ilook and Shoot played solidly in the forwards. The ball was handled by the Rotorua backs and Douglas scored. Rotorua led at half-time by :{ points to o. After the interval Maxwell finished off a Te Puke movement, with a try and shortly afterward he put Te Puke ahead by kicking a penalty goal. Te Puke continued to attack and McClure finished off a nice bout of passing by scoring. Rotorua then took a hand, rushing play to Te Puke's line, where Douglas scored a try, which Geere converted. Just oil time McDonald scored, to make Rotorua the winner by 11 points to fh Opotlki.—The semi-final lor the Parata Cup was played between Whakatane and Opotiki in ideal weather conditions before a large attendance. Reg. Jones, the Opotiki halfback, played a fine game, scoring two tries and being instrumental in another try being registered. Opotiki opened the score when (',. Walker crossed the line. Lendnim, the ex-Taranaki halfback, who was playing for Opotiki, broke a finger and retired, being replaced by Starkey. Whakatane evened the score with a try, but Opotiki took the lead again when Starkey ran infield and scored. Reg Jones put Opotiki further in the lead with a fine solo run and then Shalfoon scored from an opening made by Jones. The latter scored Opotiki's fifth try when he cut out several opponents and scored a clever try. Whakatane scored a try near the end of the game when Hoteue crossed. Te Knit i.—Tho Waitete and Te Kuili senior A teams staged the best game on Rugby Park this seasdn, Waitete winning U —r, after leading S—(( for most of the game. In the first half Te Kuiti held a very slight advantage, but the rock-like defence of the Waitete team prevented its line being crossed. Waitete gained two tries in this spell, a back movement sending Flint over between the posts anil he converted. An unconverted try was gained by AVarbrick as a result ot following up. Te Kuiti's points came from two penally kicks by R. Barlow. In the second spell the trained Waitcle team stood the pace better, although there was very little between the teams. Franich sent Thornton a long pass and the latter scored for Waitete. R. Barlow was the spearhead of the Te Kuiti attack and R. Martin and Wiltoi led the forwards. In the Waitete team Graham, halfback, Anderson, fullback. and G. Lee and W'arbrick, forwards, played well. Pukekohe-V/aiuku. —While iho Wanderers team won the senior championship this year, the honours in the junior and third grade competitions have still to lie decided.
