LEAGUE- FOOTBALL TOUB COMPLIMENTARY DINNER SERIES OF PRESENTATIONS An enthusiastic gathering of officials and players of the Rugby League code assembled at the Hotel Auckland on Saturday evening for a complimentary dinner tendered to the co-managers of the New Zealand team, Messrs, J. A. Redwood and G. Grey Campbell, and to bid farewell to the Auckland members of the side. . .. The president of the Auckland Rugby League, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., presided, and paid a tribute to the sterling qualities of managers. Tie success of the Rugby League code in Auckland, he said, was due to the courage and businesslike methods of its administrators. Sir. Lee read an apology for absence from the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, who forwarded his best wishes for the success of the team. Mr. H. Wilson, deputy-chairman of the New Zealand Rugby League, said the team would make every effort to maintain the prestige of New Zealand in England. Messrs. Redwood and Campbell were the recipients of presentations from the New Zealand and Auckland leagues. : Mr. Redwood, in reply, expressed appreciation for the presentations, aad said he would work untiringly to'make the tour a success. Mr. Campbell said the team would be a happy family, and would bring back a fine playing record. He then made presentations from the Auckland League to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Culpan. Mr. Culpan, he. said, had completed 21 years as .secretarv of the League, and Mrs. Culpan had "been a fine worker on the ladies' social committee. Mr. Culpan was presented with an address, and Mrs. Culpan with a clock. The toast of the team was proposed by Mr. Lee, and replied to by Messrs. R. Banham and H. Mataira. Each of the Auckland players was presented with a travelling caso on behalf oi the Auckland League.
