SHOCK FOR MOTOEIST COLLISION WITH HORSE ANIMAL STRIKES RADIATOR LEAP FROM SIDE OF ROAD [by telegraph —own correspondent] TAUPO, Saturday A Rotorua motorist, Mr. W. McHale, had a startling experience last night while driving a small van on the main highway between Taupo and National Park, when a stray horse jumped from the side of the road about 3ft. in front of the van. Tho impact was so severe that tho radiator was driven almost back toi,the windscreen, which was shattered. Mr. McHale and a companion escaped injury. Tho horse was killed and had to be removed by a tractor.

Fairbrother, aged 62, of Moeraka, suffered a fracture of the shoulder and head injuries which necessitated his removal to the Tauranga Hospital. Passengers on tho express noticed Mr. Fairbrother fall and informed the guard, who telephoned the 'le railway station from Paengaroa. lhe staff at Te Puke were about to organise a search for Mr. Fairbrother when he appeared at the station after staggering about 100 yards down the line. TWO OARS COLLIDE TELEGRAPH WIRES BROKEN [from our own correspondent] RAMARAMA,- Saturday A fortunate escape from injury was experienced by the driver of a small car and driver of a large sedan car with four passengers when the two vehicles collided on the Great South Road, near Ingram's Road,' Ratnarama, about 0.45 last evening. Tho large car was being driven north by Mr. James Michael Sushames, of Ramctramu, and the small car south by Mr. Ronald Robert Smith, of Hobsonvillo. After the impact tho large car continued on s'everal feet and struck a telegraph polo, bringing down half a dozen wires. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

TRUCK STRIKES BRIDGE DRIVER SERIOUSLY HURT [from our own correspondent] 'WHANGAREI, Sunday Severa head injuries were received by Mr. Arthur Hewitt, a single man, employed by the North Auckland Power Board, when a light truck he was driving crashed into tbo side rail of a railway overhead bridge on tho main road just north of Itamo at about three o'clock this morning. Ho was returning from when tbo accident occurred and fortunately a motorist came on tho scene just after the mishap and took the injured man to tho "Whangarei Hospital.Tho truck was extensively damaged and a .length of the sido rail of the bridge was torn ivway.
