THE NEW METROPOLE
Swing rhythm in its varying phases was exemplified at the New Metropole Cabaret on Saturday night by Mr. Sammy Lee and his Americanadians. Novelty and movement characterised the items, and many unusual musical features were introduced. The trumpeters, an outstanding section of the band, were particularly appreciated, while comedy numbers by the vocalists provided merry interludes on an up-to-date programme. Miss Joy Rovelle also assisted in the general success with her effective show songs rendered in modern swing style. Celebration parties gave an enlivening touch to the scene.
