LEAGUE TRIALS

SIDE. FOR ENGLAND CARLAW PARK MATCHES INTER-ISLAND FIXTURE . SELECTION OF TEAMS Tho annual inter-island Rugby League match, "which this year will serve as a major trial for the selection of the New Zealand team to tour England and France, will he played at Carlaw Park next Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. A curtain-raiser between Possibles and Probables teams, which include players from hoth islands, will also be staged, commencing at 1.30 p.m.

The North Island selectors, Messrs. T. A. McClymont (Auckland), 11. W. Brisbane (Auckland) and G. Hooker (Taranaki), were responsible for tho selection of the North Island and Possibles and Probables teams, while the South Island side was announced by tho southern selectors per medium of the New Zealand Council. Although the selection of the team to visit England will not be made until after a final trial next Tuesday, there is a possibility that tho New Zealand selectors, Messrs. T. A. McClymont (Auckland), J. Amos (Canterbury) and J. A. Redwood (Auckland), one of tho managers for the tour, will name a number of certainties on Saturday night. The South Island players taking part in tho trials will arrive, in Auckland on Thursday morning and will stay at the Thistle Hotel. Following are tho teams: — NORTH ISLAND Fullback.—J.
