July 'J Although reports were current in London anil Paris yesterday that {l Nazi coup in Danzig was contemplated tliis week-end, and the British and French Governments consulted lito on Friday evening, to he ready for any eventuality, there ■was no news from Danzig overnight, indicating ~ that all is quiet at present. German Army leaders arrived in Danzig yesterday in mufti to take over command of the Free Corps, guvs Renter's Danzig correspondent. A corps of Storm Troopers is already patrolling the streets under the guise, of a 'Home Army.
The Nazi leaders met in conference, Herr Albert Forster presiding, and representatives of. all Nazi Party formations attended, as well as the newlyarrived Free Corps officers. Rifles and machine-guns aro being distributed all over the city, and the City Hall has been converted into an arsenal. Twelve trucks conveyed arms last night to the Werder district, in the southern corner of the Free City.
According to a message from Warsaw, a Poli.sh Government spokesman pays' ahv'' net of violence in Danzig, whether initiated from within or without, would be regarded as ground for war. A Whitehall spokesman, says an Independent Cable Service message, stated that if the Danzig Senate voted to include the Free City in the Reich and Poland marched on Danzig as the result, Poland would be supported to the hilt by Britain and France. "Let there not be the faintest doubt about that," added the official. Motorised units passed down the Untor den Linden, Berlin, to-day, attracting excited crowds. Gorman students at the University of Geneva have 1 been ordered to return to. Germany not later than July 15.
